- House Rules takes place in the summer of 2024, around late July.
- The House is located in a town called Evermore Rest in Upstate New York. The town is west of the Finger Lakes.
- The House was built in the 1920s. It's passed through several hands, but the current owners are unknown. The most recent family who lived in the House moved out in the early 1990s.
- There have been rumors about hauntings and strange goings-on at the House for decades now.
- Intrepid teens sometimes dare each other to go inside, and students at the local college have been known to throw parties at the House. Many report that weird things have happened, fights broke out, and people got hurt or came out changed.
